Youth Forum 2012 - Rules and Regulations

 

1. Youth Forum is open to all juniors 21 years of age and under (as of January 1, 2012) from Canada or other foreign countries.  Participants must pay a $45 entry fee for one animal and one exhibitor and an additional $15 for each additional entry.  Entry fee must be paid no later than Wednesday, March 14th, 2012. 

 

2.  There is no limit placed on the number of entries per exhibitor, however, any exhibitor showing, must have paid an entry fee.  Substitute show people must be paid exhibitors.

 

3.  Classes will be determined following entries.  Heifers will be split according to breed and age.  Prospect Market Steers & Prospect Market Heifers may be split according to breed and/or hip height and/or weight.  Approximate class size will be eight animals, with a minimum of three animals.  If there are less than three animals entered in anyone breed, that breed will show in the crossbred class, unless the class has a designated sponsor.  All heifers and steers must have been born in 2011.  All market animals will be judged as prospects.

 

4.  All entries in purebred classes (Breeding heifers), excluding steers & market heifers, must have an official breed certificate of registration and ear tattoo.

 

5.  Health certificates must accompany U.S. cattle.  All cattle will be inspected for any contagious bovine disease (e.g. ringworm).  Any livestock found unacceptable will be asked to leave.

 

6.  All animals must be broke to lead.

 

7.  Arrival time for cattle will be Friday, April 6th after 12 noon until 7 am. Saturday, April 7th.   Registration will be Friday from 5:30  - 7 pm and Saturday from 7:30 - 8:00 am.  PLEASE BRING ANIMAL REGISTRATION PAPERS WITH YOU TO REGISTER FOR THE SHOW.  Cattle will be released at the conclusion of the show on April 7th.  If numbers warrant, Market animals will be measured for hip height to determine class breakdown.  Showmanship classes will commence April 7th, at 8:30 am.  Conformation classes will commence following Showmanship on April 7th.

 

8.  Cattle will be stalled according to the appointed barn boss discretion.  Youth breed associations, 4-H clubs and families are encouraged to work together on stall displays.  A special herdsperson award will be given to an exhibitor selected for their sportsmanship throughout the Youth Forum event.

 

9.  Anyone caught in the process of using unethical measures to fit or enhance their entry, by a Youth Forum Committee member, will be disqualified from  the show.   Exhibitors are encouraged to fit their own entries, however peer and parental support is permitted.

 

10.  It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to be on time for class(es).

 

11.  NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WILL BE ALLOWED.  This rule will be strictly enforced.

 

12.  The Youth Forum Committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of all entries if requirements are not met.  All decisions made by the Youth Forum Committee are final.

 

13.  No tie outs available.  Cattle must remain in the barns overnight.  There will be no security on the grounds overnight.  Exhibitors are responsible for their animals and possessions for the duration of the show.  Youth Forum and its committee members will not be responsible for any accidents.

 

14.  Shavings only must be used for bedding.  Exhibitors are encouraged to bring their own shavings - a limited amount is available at the show at a cost of $7 per bundle. 

 

15.  Dress Code:  Contestants are required to wear black or dark coloured pants.  NO HATS ALLOWED IN THE SHOW RING.

 

16.  All exhibitors must be pre-registered and paid by March 14th, 2012.
